Whörpath/Arrastrados Split
I just saw both of these bands last night at a Total Chaos house show and picked up their split. Both bands killed it. They're crust punk with a hint of black metal from Santa Rosa. Both bands share members (Arrastrados has a female fronted vocalist) and are all awesome people. Give these guys a listen!

Suburban Scum - Internal War
Suburban Scum is a heavy NJHC band that formed in 2007 as a joke in the beginning. They rose up pretty quickly in the NJ area and are getting recognized fast. One of my favorite modern hardcore bands out there right now.

Trainwreck - If There's Light, It Will Find You
A really recent (like this year) EP from a german metalcore/hardcore band. A random find for this and it's only five songs, but they're really great five songs. A lot of the intensity and heaviness of metalcore with the emotion and breaking down of screamo. Features a note with some descriptions/hypotheses on each track. Not sure if it's one of the band members or really dedicated fan who did it.
The Rapture - Pieces of the People We Love
Pretty great album that's a part of the recent post-punk revival movement. It really brings back post-punk/new wave from the 80's with the casual use of synth, simple "danceable" beats and melodic instrumentation. If you feel like you've heard a song from this album before, then you probably have. A lot of car and insurance commercials used songs from this album.
I Would Set Myself on Fire For You - Believes In Patterns...
More screamo. Probably the most similar band to Circle Takes the Square. Lots of experimenting and use of alternating shouts from each band member. This album takes that experimentation in a different direction though. It's more in favor of jazz and dissonance instead of the poetic chaos that CTtS applies. I recommend following with the lyrics already integrated into the tracks.
Sigur Rós - Takk
Amazing album from an amazing icelandic post-rock band. The band has classified their sound as being "slow-motion rock", which fits pretty well when hearing and seeing their songs/videos. Unlike bands like GY!BE, Sigur Rós makes very uplifting music with very unique instruments. For some of their other albums they have some tribal drumming and lyrics spoken in their own made up language called "hopelandic", which is based off of icelandic. Several of their songs are featured in movies and tons of memorial videos using "Hoppípolla."

she - Pioneer
she is the brainchild of chiptune composer Pjat Lain. Chiptune is very frequent in the use of "gameboys" as instruments to emit music with a "video game" sound. With this album, the songs almost seem to be coming from an NES game.
